Launched summer 2013, this German distilled gin is supports African Elephant conservation with a donation of 15% of profits to two African elephant foundations. A London dry gin in style it redistilled with 14 botanicals, including five African ingredients in a 400 litre copper Arnold Holstein still.
The Africa botanicals used are: Devils Claw (sourced from South Africa), Buchu (a plant native to the lower elevation mountains of western South Africa), Lions Tail (a herb native to Southern Africa), African Wormwood, Baobab (the fruit of the baobab tree). The other less exotic botanicals are: Juniper, Indonesian cassia bark, French lavender, Spanish sweet orange peel, locally sourced fresh apples, Chinese ginger, Mexican pimento berries, elderflower sourced from the Ukraine and Poland, and mountain pine needles from the Salzburger Mountains.
Elephant Gins bespoke embossed bottles are adorned with hand-written labels. Each batch is named after an elephant that one of the foundations Elephant Gin supports has helped to protect..
